Wizards of The Coast have posted details of the 2008 Star Wars Miniatures Championship which will be held at PAX this year:

Tournament Date/Location:

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Registration: 10:00 A.M. (Tournament start at 11:00 A.M.)

Entry Price: Entry price for the tournament is $10 USD.

Eligibility:

• All players in good standing with the DCI are eligible to compete in the event.

Tournament Format:

• 150-point Constructed

Tournament Length:

• Swiss rounds (number of rounds based on attendance) - 60 minutes per round

Advancement:

• All players may participate in all Swiss rounds.
• The top 8 players after the final Swiss round will advance to the top 8 single-elimination finals

Top 8:

• Top 8 matches will have a 60-minute time limit
• Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will still be used to determine final order in the standings

Prizes:

• 1st – 4th place all receive an exclusive hand-painted Star Wars miniature (some from a future unreleased set!) as a trophy
• 1st place receives a complete set of the Knights of the Old Republic expansion
• Miniature and RPG product will be awarded to the top 8

Notes:

• Players provide maps for the tournament; maps should be selected as per the Star Wars Miniatures Floor Rules
• Only 150-point format maps are legal
• All matches use the Gambit format
