New Images at Spartan Games
Spartan Games have posted quite a few new previews of future releases. The previews can be found in the gallery on our forum - no need to be a forum member to view them.
For Uncharted Seas, they have images of the new Dragons for the Dragon Lords Carrier, as well as some shots of the new tokens for damage and crew loses. In addition, they have a lighthouse objective, and a piece of concept artwork for the Pirates fleet (Sky Pirates?).
For Firestorm Armada, there are painted versions of the Aquan Cruiser and the Dindrenzi Frigate.
For Uncharted Lands, they have posted an image of a painted Imperial Human Soldier.
Finally, they have posted several images for a new game called Death or Glory (DoG). These images include potential rulebook and card deck artwork. All the miniatures currently in the DoG section of the gallery are 40mm!
DoG is one of the first historical projects to come out of Spartan Games. The idea was to create a set of skirmish rules that were quick to play, fun, colorful and different. They wanted to play games featuring mythical warriors such as Robin Hood, Achilles and King Arthur, and historical legends like Alexander of Macedon, Frederick Barbarossa and William the Conqueror.
The focus of development was therefore to create rules that favored the heroes and legends of past centuries at the expense of the common soldier. DoG does this, and makes such heroes and legends quite literally deadly on the tabletop. But, and this is a big but, they are not unbeatable. If you charge King Arthur into a unit of enemy warriors on his own, with no support or strategy, it's going to hurt - or could even be fatal! But use him as he should be, a legendary fighter, and he will carve his way around a battlefield - just as he does in the movies.
The idea is to use DoG to re-enact scenes from a movie, book or graphic novel, or make up your own encounters using lots of models. Whether you have Leonidas cutting a path through Persian Immortals to save an injured companion, or Jason trying to fight his way through skeletons to the safety of his ship, DoG is perfect for recreating such encounters.
The rulebook covers a number of generic troop types and features detailed army lists for Dark Age forces - Saxons, Vikings and Normans. Additional supplements and/or downloads will be made available from the Spartan Games website, and these will cover statistic cards throughout myth and history up to, and including, the introduction of gunpowder.
