Campaign Setting Open Playtesting
A new campaign setting is being developed in accordance with the 3.5E Open Gaming License. It is called the Realms of Twilight (www.realmsoftwilight.net). Currently the publisher, Silver Crescent Publishing, is offering open game testing on a first come first serve basis. Those interested should visit the website and follow the link to thee indoctrination form. If your application is accepted you will be expected to offer useful feedback about the content you receive as well as the campaign it is being used in. It is useful to already have a gaming group prior to applying for the playtesting but is not necessary. Absolutely necessary. If you are only an individual, please state that fact in the extra information at the bottom of the form. Those participating and providing adequate, useful feedback will be offered a 10% discount on the book when it prints next spring. If you have any questions please contact the author at daniel@realmsoftwilight.net or ask them here in the forum.
This world is a world whose sun was eclipsed long ago. It is a world rich in history, yet many of its current inhabitants are ignorant to it. There are 5 continents to choose from. If accepted into the open play testing you will be given the opening chapter and the chapter detailing the continent you are playing on. All rights to this information, of course, remain the sole property of Silver Crescent Publishing and the Author.
The reason the whole setting will not be made available until publication is to protect copyrights. Silver Crescent does not have the bank of lawyers behind them that, say Piazo or Wizards of the Coast does. As a result extra care is being taken to prevent the theft of intellectual property. As far as the continents, all 5 continents are already written and have been edited once. At his point we are trying to ensure an adequate amount of information is given for players and game masters alike to work with without restricting creativity with too much information. New monsters may be given if they are commonly found on the continent selected. New Domains and spells may be given based on the groups dependency on magic. New deities will almost universally be included and new prestige classes will be previewed on the website.
The website (Realms of Twilight) is a work in progress at the moment. For those desiring more information about the world here it is:
There is no visible sun. It was eclipsed centuries ago by a fey race attempting to cleanse the world of the plague that had infested it, namely the common player race and other humanoids. Centuries have passed since that fateful day and other events have occurred that have shaped the world's history. The Gate Wars were fought over the control of the numerous planar portals that were once common throughout the world. Demons, devils and upper planar beings fought with mortals caught in the middle. Only the Twilight Dragon saved mortal-kind, but in the resulting rage he tore the world asunder.
Now civilization is regaining a foothold in various places int he world. The light of the three moons shines down illuminating the land. There is a theocracy of law that upholds the powers of necromancy. A nation whose beliefs include lycanthropes being holy creatures. Ancient ruins are scattered throughout the world with untold treasures and dangers left behind by the civilizations of the past. New character races like the Valshari elves (descended from the infamous Drow) and twilight gnomes populate the world alongside more standard races. Legends abound (and are in fact introductions to each chapter in the book).
For any interested Realms of Twilight now has its OWN forum. Just go to www.realmsoftwilight.net and follow the "Forum" link.
